The last time I saw this family, their kids were so little. As they walked toward me, I had to do a double-take. How could these beautiful grown-up-looking kids be the same small kiddos I had photographed just a few short years ago??
Instead of acting silly to bring out their smiles, I found myself in thoughtful conversations with them, learning about all their favorite things in this season of life. I saw glimpses of their younger selves in their smiles and gestures, but their personalities had blossomed into unique and independent spirits.
As I packed up my camera, I smiled, thinking about all the change that had taken place between their last session and this one. As parents, we experience a rollercoaster of emotions, from pride and amazement to a hint of nostalgia for the littleness that once was – it’s an emotional journey I wouldn’t trade for the world.
