I’ve known the Filzen family for as long as I can remember. We were next-door neighbors for the first six years of my life, and their oldest daughter Rachel and I were inseparable. We spent so much time outside, it didn’t matter what the weather was. I have so many wonderful memories just being outside, playing make-believe in the sunshine, rain, snow, mud, and sand. I remember one time we picked all of Rachel’s mom’s carrots out of the garden, washed them off with the garden hose and ate them. Not a lot of them. All of them. Every. Last. One. (Sorry, Anita!!)
